KAZAKHSTAN 2018

After recovering from shoulder reconstruction surgery, Kazakhstan 2018 marked my first international Horseback Archery competition. Hosted by the Heritage Sport Organization of Kazakhstan, the event focused on preserving traditional horse riding sports and falconry, creating an unforgettable experience for competitors and spectators alike.

Our three-person team—Jaco Jacobs, Daniel Griffin, and myself—arrived in Astana, the stunning modern capital of Kazakhstan. From the breathtaking track layout to the world-class broadcasting and traditional ceremonies, every aspect of the event showcased the nation’s deep cultural heritage and commitment to excellence in Horseback Archery.

The competition was exceptionally well-organized, with top-tier infrastructure supporting both athletes and horses. All competing stallions were impeccably trained, showcasing discipline and skill that elevated the experience even further. Beyond the competition, we formed lasting friendships and immersed ourselves in the rich traditions of Horseback Archery, making Kazakhstan 2018 an unforgettable milestone in my journey.
