In 2019, while competing in Kouhsar – Karaj, Iran, a cameraman standing too close to the track caused my horse to spook, leading to a crash into a steel banner structure during my first run. Despite the accident, what truly stood out was the warm welcome, professionalism, and the heartfelt hospitality I received from the Iranian people. Every competition is a testament to their efforts and dedication.
What is most inspiring is the deep sense of family and brotherhood that transcends all boundaries. The humble appreciation for even the smallest gifts speaks volumes about the Iranian spirit. As Gandhi once said, “It is not about how many followers you have, but how many leaders you can create.” Through horseback archery, children learn valuable life lessons—commitment, dedication, perseverance, and endurance—qualities that shape future leaders.
Though setbacks are part of the journey, they help us appreciate our victories. I’ve witnessed these children grow into champions, and seeing their development is my greatest gift from Iran. Every time I leave, I feel like a champion, knowing that the sport of horseback archery is helping create leaders for tomorrow.
